2024 BMW 3 Series Hybrid Redesign, Interior, ImagesHybrid vehicles remain a crucial link in transitioning from carbon-spewing to carbon neutrality. The 2024 BMW 3 Series Hybrid is the German automaker’s attempt at a green compact luxury sedan as the globe gradually shifts to electric vehicles. Based on the seventh-generation G20 3 Series platform, the 3 Series Hybrid lineup, which includes the BMW 330e and 330e xDrive, mirrors the excellent build quality, cutting-edge technology, and impressive driving dynamics of its gas-only siblings while also getting good gas mileage and an added 23 miles of all-electric range.

The 2024 model year will see just modest alterations to the 330e and 330e xDrive models introduced for the 2021 model year. Some options have been moved around and are now offered as stand-alone options, such as the Shadowline exterior package and Icon adaptive LED headlights with Laserlight technology. Others are eliminated as stand-alone bonuses or included in new, simplified packages. Additionally, there are now more interior and exterior color possibilities. On the hybrid vehicles seen here, ambient interior lighting, LED headlights with a cornering function, and enhanced Bluetooth connectivity are now standard. Additionally, a power-operated trunk lid is now a choice.

The 2024 BMW 3 Series Sedan is gorgeously constructed with the best handling in its class, excellent engine options, and a timeless design. In 2021, the firm made some well-appreciated improvements to the vehicle, primarily in infotainment subscription services and the addition of some standard convenience features. With a few minor changes for the 2024 model year, the new 3 Series should be just as good as the old one.

The appearance of the new 3 Series Sedan won’t change. That might not be a bad thing because the current design has aged beautifully, maintaining a timeless form that is sufficiently elegant yet subtly aggressive. Despite being more prominent, the grille is not nearly as controversial as its younger sibling. The Sedan has the most extended wheelbase in its class, measuring 112.2 inches, and it weighs 3582 lbs. Even though the 3 Series is shorter than the A4, its longer wheelbase makes it a more comfortable sedan. Overall, there don’t seem to be any distinctions between the automobiles’ dimensions. BMW and Mercedes-Benz are the tallest when compared in height, both measuring 56.8 inches.

Interior

The 3’s interior features a contemporary design with top-notch components and extraordinary craftsmanship. The 3-series controls are conveniently located, and nothing about it feels cheap. BMW also enhanced the outside visibility, and the standard sports seats are well-bolstered and supportive with many adjustment options, making it simple to find a comfortable position. A comprehensive head-up display, programmable ambient interior lighting, heated front, and rear seats, remote start, and wireless charging are some of the extra-cost features of the automobile. Although a little disorganized, the digital instrument panel on the BMW is nevertheless beautiful. The tachometer needle moving counterclockwise may initially seem strange to some, but you quickly grow used to it. The 3-series has a sizable trunk with a power-operated lid as an option. The gas-powered Sedan’s 17 cubic feet of baggage room can accommodate six carry-on suitcases in the back, and 17 in total with the back seat folded. For instance, the Alfa Romeo Giulia could fit five and 15, respectively, while the Mercedes-Benz C300 car could only do one more miniature suitcase in each test. Due to its battery pack, the 330e has less trunk room (13 cubes), and we haven’t tested its carry-on capacity.

The 8.8-inch touchscreen that controls the standard infotainment system can also be controlled using voice commands, a sizable knob on the console, and buttons. Navigation is a part of the Live Cockpit Plus feature set, which is standard. The similarly named Live Cockpit Pro upgrade, which extends the touchscreen’s size to 10.3 inches and offers you the most recent and sophisticated version of BMW’s iDrive system, is required to get the excellent stuff. The Sedan does include two USB ports, but a pay-per-use Wi-Fi hotspot is optional. Android Auto and CarPlay are both included as standard. BMW’s Gesture Control, which enables the driver or passenger to submit specific orders with hand gestures, is an intriguing alternative. Although less practical than beneficial, it will impress your friends for a short while.

Engine

Based on the seventh-generation G20 3 Series platform, the 3 Series Hybrid lineup, which includes the BMW 330e and 330e xDrive, mirrors the excellent build quality, cutting-edge technology, and impressive driving dynamics of its gas-only siblings while also getting good gas mileage and an added 23 miles of all-electric range. When paired with an electric traction motor, the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood makes 287 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This puts the hybrid model between the gas-powered 330i and the M340i in terms of power.

The standard is 8-speed automatic transmission. The 400-hp Volvo S60 Recharge is the only true plug-in contender in the segment, so that the 330e might put up a good fight against it. The 3 Series Hybrid is a fantastic bridge to the future since the world is still moving in one direction.
