2024 BMW 8-Series Grand Coupe Review, Interior, Price – While retaining the spirited driving and clean roofline of the two-door 8-series coupe, the 2024 BMW 8-series Gran Coupe adds two more doors to make it more practical as a sedan. A powerful twin-turbo V-8 is an option for the entry-level model, which comes standard with a smooth-running turbocharged inline-six. The 8-series Gran Coupe is swift and elegant with any engine. The Mercedes-AMG GT four-door, the Porsche Panamera, the Audi S7, and Porsche Panamera all have fastback styling comparable to the SL’s. Although the inside is classy and pleasant, we recommend the roomier 7-series sedan instead if you want a limousine-like experience in the back seat.
New front bumper styles, a redesigned grille with standard lighting, new wheel designs, and a new color scheme will be included in the 2024 refresh of the 8-series Gran Coupe. A 12.3-inch infotainment screen has been added to the sedan’s interior to make it more appealing. The Alpina B8 variant will return in 2024 with the same stylistic updates as the primary vehicle. For a staggering $350,995, a new 8 X Jeff Koons model is only available in tiny quantities. It boasts a custom outside paint job and an equally custom inside, designed by the iconic American artist.

When we examine photos of the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, it’s as if each time we look at them, we see something different. In any one of the 11 available paint colors, it’s a stunning four-door. In addition to the M Sport aerodynamic package, the 840i’s 19-inch double-spoke orbit grey light-alloy wheels, blacked-out Shadowline exterior trim, and the M Sport LED headlights with Laserlight technology and high auto beams, there’s also a motorized trunk lid. Cerium Grey alloy wheels are standard on the M850i xDrive. Additionally, an M Carbon roof and the M Carbon exterior package are available, comprising mirror caps made of M Carbon and carbon finishes for the tailpipes.
The 840i and 840i xDrive Gran Coupes have a total length of 200.2 inches, whereas the M850i xDrive is slightly longer, 200.3 inches. The lower-tier versions have a width of 76.1 inches and a height of 55.2 inches, while the M850i xDrive has a height of 55.4 inches. The standard M850i weighs 4,262 pounds, while the xDrive model is 4,381 pounds more, and the M850i xDrive is a massive 4,758 pounds heavier yet.

Interior
The inside of the 2024 BMW 8-Series is usually a coupe. Headroom for adults in the back seats is limited due to the vehicle’s sloping roofline, which is common to all cars in this market. It’s classic BMW in the front seats, with plenty of padding and bolstering, as well as the option of 14-way power adjustment. Although the inside is luxurious, folding the front chairs is the only way to get into or out of the back seat.
The 2024 BMW 8-Series coupe’s fit and finish are reminiscent of the brand’s concept of giving the cabin a stately air. While the leather-wrapped M-steering wheel stands out, the Nappa leather dashboard finish blends in perfectly with the other high-end materials. The anthracite headlining, floor mats and seats covered in Merino leather make the car’s (nearly) $100,000 price tag worthwhile.

Engine
In 2024, there will be two engine options, and a test drive will soon reveal the variations in performance between the two. A turbocharged inline-six machine with 335 horsepower and 368 lb-ft of torque is offered in the basic model by BMW. 0-60 times can be achieved in 4.9 seconds, while xDrive models can do it in 4.6 seconds. This layout is more than adequate for city driving and interstate cruising. Despite its lack of strength, we enjoy the smoothness with which it is delivered. The M850i xDrive’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 will satisfy your power needs. If you press the accelerator down, you’ll see 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque tear along the pavement. In this configuration, the 8 Series Gran Coupe can go from zero to 60 mph in under 3.7 seconds. All versions have a top speed of 130 mph or 155 mph for cars with a higher limiter and summer tires. The 840i’s superb eight-speed automatic gearbox features sport and manual shift modes for distributing power to the rear or all four wheels. All-Wheel Drive is the sole option for the M850i.
You may expect such a huge car, with such outstanding performance statistics, to have a poor gas economy. Still, the 3.0-liter variant, when driven gently, will achieve impressive numbers for a vehicle of its size. The 22/29/25 mpg city/highway/combined ratings for the 840i’s basic model are based on EPA estimates. The mpg figures drop to 20/27/23 for the xDrive model. Even though the more powerful M850i xDrive is a beast, it still manages to get 17/24/19 mpg. The 8 Series Gran Coupe has a gasoline tank capacity of 18 gallons, allowing it to reach a maximum range of 450 miles.
