When we examine photos of the new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, it’s as if each time we look at them, we see something different. In any one of the 11 paint colors, it’s a stunning four-door. The Shadowline exterior trim in black, the M Sport aerodynamic package, Icon LED headlights with Laserlight technology and auto high beams, and a motorized trunk lid is included with the 840i. In addition to an M carbon roof, the M Carbon exterior kit includes M carbon mirror caps and single-piece carbon finishes around the tailpipes. Cerium Grey alloy wheels are standard on the M850i xDrive model.
For the 840i and 840i xDrive models, the Gran Coupe is 200.2 inches long, while the M850i xDrive is slightly longer at 200.3 inches. The lower-tier versions have a width of 76.1 inches and a height of 55.2 inches, while the M850i xDrive is 55.4 inches high. Inside, the BMW 8-Series from 2024 looks like a coupe. The sloping roofline affects passenger headroom, and the back seats, like those in every other car in this market, are too small to accommodate adults comfortably. The front seats, on the other hand, are classic BMW, with plenty of padding and bolstering and the option of 14-way power adjustment. Although the inside is luxurious, the only way to get into or out of the back seat is by folding the front chairs.
The inside of the 2024 BMW 8-Series coupe has a majestic and opulent feel because of the brand’s attention to detail. While the leather-wrapped M-steering wheel stands out, the Nappa leather dashboard finish complements the other high-end materials. Despite its lack of strength, we enjoy the smoothness with which it is delivered. The M850i xDrive’s twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 will suffice if you need more power. With a simple touch of the gas pedal, 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque can be unleashed. The 8 Series Gran Coupe can go from zero to sixty in under 3.7 seconds in this configuration. Automobiles with an enhanced limiter and summer-performance tires may reach up to 155 mph speeds. With an eight-speed automatic transmission, the 840i can deliver power to the rear or all four wheels. Only AWD is offered for the M850i.
Driving the 3.0-liter variant with a light foot will result in excellent gas mileage statistics for a vehicle in this class, even for a massive car with such strong performance figures. In terms of city/highway/combined mpg, the base model 840i is rated at 22/29/25. These figures drop to 20/27/23mpg for the xDrive version of the vehicle. However, the more powerful M850i xDrive will still score a decent 17/24/19 mpg, even if it is a powerhouse. The 840i’s 18-gallon fuel tank allows the 8 Series Gran Coupe to go up to 450 miles on a single fill.
