2024 BMW i8 M Sport Cars Hybrid Release Date, Price

2024 BMW i8 M Sport Cars Hybrid Release Date, PriceBMW’s current i8 may not be a sporting success, but that hasn’t discouraged the German luxury company from developing expensive hybrid sports vehicles. BMW’s Vision M Next concept from the middle of 2019 is evidence that work is progressing on the next generation of the i8—we like to think of it as the i8 M, as it should offer a significant performance gain over the current model. The i8 M should be different from the model it will eventually replace because it will have more power, a more extended range of electric power, a different look, and a better chassis.

For the 2024 model year, BMW will release a completely redesigned version of the i8 M (or whatever they decide to call their next-generation hybrid sports vehicle). The car has the potential to go on sale in 2023 as a 2024 model, and as the release date gets closer, we expect to find out more.

It isn’t easy to provide a recommendation without knowing the precise specifications of the i8 M or the availability of any add-ons. Like the present model, we anticipate that the i8 M will be available in both a coupe and a convertible configuration. As revolutionary as it was upon its debut, the i8’s low profile and two-tone paint scheme continue to fascinate even now. Those beautiful buttresses and the butterfly doors are sure to wow any visitor. The carbon fiber-reinforced plastic roof and the 20-inch bi-color light-alloy wheels add to the car’s dramatic look.

The i8’s proportions help to create its low and broad stance: it is 184.9 inches long (with a 110.2-inch wheelbase), 76.5 inches wide (not including mirrors), and 50.8 inches tall. BMW states that the curb weight of the i8 Coupe is 3,501 pounds. Care must be used while maneuvering into and out of steep driveways due to the vehicle’s low ground clearance of just 4.6 inches.

Interior

We don’t know much about the i8 M’s cabin yet, but we’re crossing our fingers that BMW fixes the i8’s awkward door opening by installing front-hinged doors and a lower side sill. The i8 M, like the present model, will serve as BMW’s testing ground for experimental design, so we expect it to include novel components, state-of-the-art systems, and a striking appearance. Storage and freight space will probably remain tight, although a front trunk (or “frunk”) might debut.

BMW’s Vision M Next concept car included the Boost Pod’s innovative infotainment system. This system gives the driver access to different functions and amenities in the vehicle through several glass displays and a head-up show. Due to the long development cycle of the car (almost three years), details concerning the i8 M’s infotainment system are still unknown.

Engine

The i8 M’s plug-in hybrid drivetrain is expected to be similar to the one found in the current i8, with an electric motor powering the front wheels and a mid-mounted gasoline engine and electric motor powering the rear wheels. BMW says that the new vehicle will use a turbocharged four-cylinder gas engine as opposed to the i8’s turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder gas engine, and the combined output of the gas and electric power systems will be 591 horsepower, far more than the i8’s 369 horsepower. The i8 M’s upgraded engine gives it a leg up on the Acura NSX, Lexus LC500h, and Polestar 1.

BMW has remained tight-lipped on specifics like battery capacity, although it has stated that the Vision M Next concept’s electric driving range is 62 miles. With only 18 miles of electric range, the current i8 is hardly spectacular. BMW’s engineers either found a method to get significantly more range out of the car’s existing 11.6 kWh battery pack, or they found room for a considerably larger unit. We may safely assume the latter is correct. In the run-up to the i8 M’s release, further details on the car’s battery, range, and charging capacity will become public.

2024 BMW i8 M Sport Cars Hybrid Release Date and Price

One thing is sure: the price is not low. The base price of a BMW i8 is $147,500; the final price will include $995 for the brand’s destination charge, government fees, and fees for licensing and registration. That’s more than the excellent Porsche 911 GT3 (which goes for $143,600), but it’s $15,800 cheaper than the i8 Roadster. Price information for the BMW i8 Ultimate Sophisto Edition was unavailable as of publication. The BMW i8 M is back for 2024 as a brand-new model that will hit the market in June of that year.
