An interior on a unique electric platform matches the premium SUV’s cutting-edge appearance. There will be two versions of this vehicle, which will compete with the Audi e-tron and Tesla Model X in 2024. The lineup features the entry-level xDrive and the top-tier iX M60. The former is more modest with 516 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque, but the powerful M60 will blow you away with its 610 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque and 3.6-second 0–60 mph time.
However, this is far better than just a battery-powered missile. One of the best contemporary SUV cabins is found in the new BMW iX. It manages to be opulent and refined without appearing pretentious. While it can’t quite equal the Tesla’s range, the BMW comes close and is also less expensive. BMW may be the market leader, but Tesla and Audi both offer something it lacks: stunning design. Even though the 2024 BMW iX has only briefly been on the US market, the company has already made some changes. The most significant of these differences is the addition of the high-performance M60 model. It has a range of 280 miles and a maximum power output of 610 horsepower. With the optional Executive Package, you can get a traffic jam assistant, active cruise control that lets you stop and go, and other helpful features. In addition, there have been some updates to the available bundles and configurations: The Convenience, Dynamic Handling, and Luxury Packages have been taken off the market for the 2024 model year. But now there’s an Ultimate Package that includes even more bells and whistles. You’ll get a lot for your money with features like air suspension, sleek wood and glass controls, a surround-sound system by Harmon Kardon, soft-closing doors, and more. In addition, motion control, now rebranded “Natural Interaction,” is now included as a standalone feature.

The 2024 BMW iX exterior design is the subject of heated debate. Though not offensive to the eye, the front end features divisive, enormous kidney grilles. The cabin of the BMW iX is among its finest features. It is more refined and contemporary than its competitors. The new BMW iDrive 8 infotainment system, which can be reached via the sleek curved display, adds to the generous standard equipment. There is little to criticize regarding the cabin room, but the second row might have a few complaints about the rear bench’s shallow placement.
The 2024 BMW iX is the ultimate car for gadget fans. The interior features a single, curved display with a 12.3-inch digital meter cluster and a 14.9-inch tablet. Everything is angled towards the driver for ease of use, and the show is straightforward to navigate, thanks to the newest iDrive 8 software from the manufacturer. In addition, traditional climate controls are absent from the sparse interior, making even minor adjustments to the fan power a chore.
The M60, like the xDrive50, is propelled by a pair of electric engines, but these are much more powerful. However, they use a one-speed “e-speed” automatic transmission with a fixed gear ratio to transmit power to all four wheels. A 111.5 kWh battery powers the xDrive50 and M60. The xDrive 40 is offered in some other countries. This cheaper and less potent alternative has a battery capacity of only 76.6 kWh. BMW USA does not intend to release this model in the local market now, but doing so would make the iX more accessible to a much larger audience of EV shoppers. Although it is slower than its more luxurious relatives, its acceleration is on par with that of BMW’s six-cylinder SUVs.
The basic xDrive50 is surprisingly quick for a luxury SUV with a curb weight of about 5,700 pounds. The BMW iX’s twin electric motors produce a hefty 516 horsepower and 564 pound-feet of torque, allowing the massive behemoth to bolt quickly from a stop. The BMW iX has a maximum speed of 124 mph and a claimed 0–60 mph time of 4.4 seconds (for the xDrive50). Unfortunately, the BMW only has a single forward gear and an electric all-wheel-drive system that powers all four wheels. As a result, acceleration builds steadily until illegal velocities stop it from being delivered instantly and linearly. If this isn’t powerful enough for you, the M60 version is made for heavy use.
The high-performance variant has a similar dual electric motor setup but significantly more muscle. This heavy electrified SUV can beat an M3 Competition to 60 miles per hour thanks to its 610 horsepower and 811 pound-feet torque in Sport Mode. (3.6 seconds). In addition, its maximum speed can be electronically limited to 155 miles per hour. This drops to 130 mph once winter tires are installed. Even though it’s an all-wheel-drive SUV, you shouldn’t take it on extreme off-road adventures. The iX is more comfortable on smooth pavement than on dirt or gravel. Nevertheless, the speed of the BMW iX should be more than enough to satisfy consumers.
2024 BMW iX Release Date and Price
The base price of a 2024 BMW iX xDrive50 is $84,100. The base MSRP of the M60 variant is $108,900. The listed prices do not include the $995 destination and handling charge, government fees, or incentives. The cost of an M60 can rapidly escalate when you factor in the optional Package and extras. When asked, “How much?” The total price with all the bells and whistles is over $119,000. The BMW iX is back for 2024 as a brand-new model and will hit the market in June of that year.
