2024 BMW M3 xDrive Specs, Colors, Redesign

2024 BMW M3 xDrive Specs, Colors, RedesignThe base price for the four available versions of the 2024 BMW M3 compact sedan is $70,100. Its main rivals in this price range are the Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the Audi RS 5 Sportsback. The M3 is available in four distinct trim levels, each with its independent powertrain that produces varying amounts of thrust. For the entry-level model, a 3.0L Twin-Turbo Inline-6 engine and 6-speed manual gearbox combine for 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. This same engine makes 503 horsepower when paired with the optional 8-speed automatic transmission found on the Competition models.

The xDrive all-wheel-drive technology is introduced on the 2024 BMW M3, but unfortunately, it can only be had on the automatic M3 Competition. There are three other settings to choose from: 4WD, 4WD Sport (which delivers more torque to the rear wheels for that autograph rear-biased handling balance), and 2WD (which sends all the power to the rear wheels for authentic burnouts). Adjustments are made to the front axle’s geometry, steering, and oiling to house the AWD components.

The BMW M3 2024 looks the same as the 2021 model. The front fascia is dominated by the very divisive prominent kidney grille, similar to the new BMW M4. The larger grille doesn’t just help with cooling and ventilation because it looks better; it also helps with efficiency. Standard features include brake cooling vents and the option to upgrade to carbon-ceramic rotors and gold calipers.

Only the controversial Sao Paulo Yellow and BMW’s classic Alpine White are included in the price of both the Competition and Standard models. The $550 premium gets you a metallic finish in your choice of Black Sapphire (a sun-lovers favorite), Portimao Blue, Toronto Red, the gorgeous Isle of Man Green, Brooklyn Grey, or Skyscraper Grey (new for 2024).

Interior

The 2024 BMW M3 xDrive is mechanically identical to the standard 3-series and shares its cabin. As a result, the M3 is visually similar to its more pedestrian sibling, with the same amount of interior space and outward visibility. Although M vehicles are most recognized for their sturdier performance, their materials and construction are on par with or even better than those found in BMW’s flagship 3-Series. The M3 looks sportier because of its increased carbon fiber and micro suede use.

Even though the optional (and standard on the Competition) lightweight front seats with substantial bolstering give great support without sacrificing comfort, this may not be the case on long drives. The driver of the M3 is greeted with a wide, curving digital gauge cluster that, when in the sportier drive modes enabled by conspicuous red buttons on the thick steering wheel, displays information in M View. When you switch to M View, the tachometer is replaced by a more legible digital version, and a shift indicator is also included.

Engine

The 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine used in the 2024 BMW M3 xDrive is also used in the 2024 model. The standard M3 has a 6-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive, and its engine produces 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. With an 8-speed automatic transmission and the newly available xDrive package, the M3 Competition model produces 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Standard all-wheel drive (4WD), 4WD Sport (most torque goes to the rear wheels), and 2WD (all torque goes to the rear wheels) will be available on the 2024 M3 Competition drive.

0-60 mph in the BMW M3 takes 4.0 seconds, while the M3 Competition does it in 3.7 seconds, and the M3 Competition xDrive does it in 3.4 seconds. The standard top speed for all versions is 155 mph, increasing to 180 mph when the M Driver’s Package is installed. The M3’s balanced chassis allows for handling on par with a sports car. The adjustable suspension dampers keep the ride quality from being overly firm. You can get the optional carbon-ceramic brake if you want more stopping power.
