However, this year’s main talking point is the new M5 CS, the fastest street-legal M5 ever built. The exterior of the M5 CS is the talk of the town with its bronze-colored 20-inch wheels, and the interior also houses bolstered M carbon-fiber front seats and rear bucket seats. Even the regular M5 delivers lots of power but with a subtle look. The M5 also fulfills the obligations of a luxury sedan and thus possesses a dual character. This explains the $39,000 hike in its cost, amongst other reasons.

The 2024 M5 CS inherits the latest design upgrades to the regular 5 Series but also presents a few elements to distinguish it from the standard M5. It’s not an overly striking design, but it is undoubtedly less polarizing than some different new BMWs, and we’d sooner have it that way. For the CS, the famous grille gets a gold-bronze finish. 20-inch M light-alloy wheels complement this in the same gold bronze color. Behind these wheels are M carbon-ceramic brakes. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is used for the roof, hood, and mirror covers to reduce weight. There’s a big M-carbon rear spoiler and four exhaust outlets at the back. Standard adaptive headlights feature yellowed L-shaped light tubes. It’s a stylish sedan that subtly alludes to its more powerful performance capabilities.
The BMW M5 CS comes standard with a Metallic Brands Hatch Grey paint job. The BMW Individual line offers just two color choices: frozen Brands Hatch Grey metallic and rigid Deep Green metallic. These unique hues set the CS apart from the standard M5, which is available in classic colors like black and white and costs an additional $5,000 each. Those who desire a little extra glitz can have their brake calipers refinished in gold at no additional cost.

The 2024 BMW M5 Competition Sport may have the performance of a true supercar, but it is still a high-end luxury sedan. The M5’s luxurious leather interior is second only to the top-of-the-line 7 Series. Inside, the dashboard design hasn’t changed much. Those in the front bucket seats will find ample padding and support. To make the M Competition model stand out, we gave it M-color seat belts.
The new BMW M5 CS has M carbon-fiber front seats and rear bucket seats, among other improvements to the interior. Centers have 20 power adjustments and are heated as standard. The leather three-spoke steering wheel is also power-adjustable, but it doesn’t look as fancy as other options. There’s plenty of room in the back, and you can even get heated seats. Extra legroom exists between the two rows of seats. Five adults can ride thanks to the generous rear-seat legroom comfortably.

The M5 is a powerful machine with a standard 4.4-liter V-8 that produces 600 horsepower. Depending on whether you’re talking about the track-focused Competition or CS variant, the number jumps to 617 or 627 horses, respectively. Even though we haven’t gotten behind the wheel of the CS yet, we’ve already attached our testing equipment to the standard M5 and the Competition model. Both lived up to our high standards, exceeding them in acceleration, cornering, and stopping power. At the 2019 Lightning Lap competition, which was held on the Grand Course at Virginia International Raceway, the Competition once again showed that it was better than the standard M5.
While diehard M5 fans will be disappointed by the lack of a manual transmission and familiarity with an AWD system, they will enjoy this BMW’s high-tech drivetrain, which can send all of the energy to the rear wheels for some severe wagging of the tail. The responsive steering and well-controlled, albeit stiff, ride make for a fun driving experience. However, that doesn’t preclude the M5 from serving as a high-end sedan. When set to “Comfort,” the vehicle travels at a leisurely pace, and the interior is entirely silent. The current generation of the M5 has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway. Both numbers are lower than you would expect from a Mercedes-AMG E63 S sedan (16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway). The BMW M52024 BMW M5 Competition Sport costs $142,000 in the United States. There will be an additional $995 destination fee added to the MSRP. That’s a significant increase over the starting price of the M5, which is $103,500, before adding the $7,600 Competition Package. The base price for a 2023 Mercedes-AMG E63 S is $107,500, which is $10,000 less than the price of a 2023 AMG GT S. The 2024 BMW M5 CS is scheduled to debut in the summer of that year in the United States.
