2024 BMW X2 Redesign, Review, Specs – Stylish and functional, the BMW X2 illustrates that pragmatism can be packaged in an attractive form. Although it is more sleek and agile than the BMW X1, it is still a crossover, not a hot hatch. The X2 portfolio is diverse enough to cater to a wide range of buyers, with a 228-horsepower basic model and a 301-horsepower performance model called the M35i. Both variants cater to an excellent driving experience. It’s been a couple of years since BMW’s X2 debuted, but it’s a stylish alternative to the X1 and faces stiff competition from the Volvo XC40 and Range Rover Evoque.
The sDrive28i and xDrive28i variants of the X2 will come with the Coldplay aesthetic package in 2024. In addition to the M Sport package, which features a sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height and a revised steering system, the external appearance of this special-edition trim is noticeably different. Coldplay X2s have a more aggressive front end and gold exterior trim elements, which set them apart from regular X2s. The X2 GoldPlay is available in San Remo Green, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Storm Bay, or Skyscraper Grey color schemes.

A new front bumper was added to the X2’s coupe-inspired body last year, but it remains the same elegant crossover it has always been. The BMW is 172.2 inches long and 71.8 inches wide from nose to tailpipe. The fact that it is faster than the competition at 60.1 inches adds to the car’s athletic appearance. The cabin of the X2 is well-appointed and well-built, even though its outward appearance is more expressive. In addition to the excellent driving posture, the X2 provides easy access to all vehicle functions. Although headroom in the back seats is limited, most passengers should have enough capacity. Faux leather and genuine leather are both available in a variety of hues from BMW. The X2’s curved backside makes it less practical than the X1’s squared-off backside, but it’s in line with its raked-roofed competitors. There were seven carry-on bags in the X1 and 19 with the bench folded, compared to the five in the back seat of the X1.
BMW’s iDrive software works on an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, including navigation. The center console of the BMW 5 Series features a controller knob for those who prefer not to use the touchscreen. A head-up display is included in the premium package. Android Auto isn’t available, but Apple CarPlay is. Audiophiles who don’t mind giving up the standard seven-speaker setup can pay more to get a Harman/Kardon premium sound system.
The X2’s standard powertrain is the same as that of the X1. Two hundred eighty-eight horsepower is delivered to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The sDrive28i is the model name given by BMW. Because the all-wheel drive is an additional $2000, you’ll need to upgrade to xDrive28i. The standard engine is a sweetheart: quick to rev, silky smooth, and capable of delivering plenty of power. Regarding acceleration, the xDrive28i is one-hundredth of a second slower than its predecessor and the Volvo XC40 T5.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA250 is even faster, clocking in at 5.8 seconds. The M35i may be the answer if that’s still too sluggish for you. BMW has tweaked the engine of this high-performance X2 to produce 302 hp. That equates to a 4.6-second sprint from 0-60 mph. Even with the sports suspension, the X2 has a rough ride. Passengers can feel every kink in their seats as the vehicle travels through bumpy terrain. In exchange for this, you gain a tremendous degree of flexibility. The X2 is a delight to drive through turns at high speeds, thanks to its predictable character that rewards the driver.
2024 BMW X2 Release Date and Price
The entry-level sDrive28i in the BMW X2 lineup has an MSRP of $36,600, which is more costly than the starting price of the XC40 but significantly less expensive than the Evoque. Adding an all-wheel-drive system to the base model doesn’t raise the price much, which isn’t a surprise because it’s the same vehicle. The entry-level xDrive28i costs $38,600. The BMW X2 M35i costs $46,450, which is a lot of money, but it’s around $8,000 less expensive than the top Range Rover Evoque. Prices do not include BMW’s $995 delivery cost.
