2024 BMW X3 Hybrid Review, MPG, Release Date – One of the better contemporary additions to the BMW portfolio in the USA is the X3 Hybrid, and it’s already one of our favorites. The standard X3 is among the most luxurious small SUVs available. The X3 xDrive30e has an electric motor and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that create 288 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Standard equipment is an eight-speed automatic transmission, but given that rivals like the Lexus NX hybrid and Volvo XC60 hybrid keep improving, we have to wonder if the X3 is still the best option. It might well hold onto its lead with more standard features for the 2024 model year. Let’s see if it can still make an electric SUV as desirable as a conventional one.
The X3 Hybrid was only recently released to the US market as an all-new model in 2023. Many valuable improvements are available for those who waited for the 2024 model. The most significant development is the availability of Android Auto with the current Apple CarPlay technology. Additionally, the 2024 BMW X3 hybrid receives Live Cockpit Professional as standard, giving it access to a 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a 12.3-inch driver display. Standard features include the SiriusXM satellite radio with 360L and the Active Driving Assistant with lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and pedestrian detection.

2024 BMW X3 Hybrid Redesign
The exterior of the BMW X3 plug-in hybrid has undergone a refresh, or “life cycle impulse,” as BMW refers to it. The front has a new front bumper and LED headlights, so let’s start there. These headlights are sleeker and more streamlined than the previous model, and BMW has given them a dynamic 3D design. Triangular vents and a single-piece frame make up the front bumper. The kidney grille is still present, and the grille shutters are operational. The X3’s 8-inch ground clearance is sufficient for navigating rugged terrain.
There are new 19-inch wheels with possibilities for 21-inch wheels, but the side profile is practically the same. The rear has more important trapezoidal exhaust chrome tips, and new 3D LED pincer claw taillights for a sportier appearance. The X3’s extended profile can be challenging to park in small spaces. In terms of looks, the $4,100 optional M Sport package adds 19-inch y-spoke bi-color wheels, gloss black roof rails, an aerodynamic kit, and Shadowline exterior decor.

Interior
Before you select a single option, the X3’s attractive interior is well-equipped; the front seats’ 10-way power adjustments, including movable side bolsters, make it simple to find a comfortable position. All seats have comfortable, adequate padding for lengthy trips, and the backs of the rear seats recline. The remainder of the X3’s cabin is attractive and expertly constructed, with carefully chosen materials and few panel gaps. Despite being made of plastic, the glossy woodgrain trim on our test car appeared and felt authentic. The stitched faux-leather door panels and dash offer an added touch of luxury. The X3 performs approximately averagely for the category in our carry-on suitcase test. Seven carry-ons may be stowed behind the second row, enough for each passenger to have one with room to spare, and 20 can fit together with the back seats folded. However, the Cadillac XT5 is the segment’s cargo-hauling champion; big transporters should put that on their shortlist.
Everything a modern luxury car’s infotainment system should offer is provided with the iDrive interface from BMW. A 10.3-inch infotainment screen with in-dash navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are included as standard. It is optional to upgrade to a 12.3-inch infotainment display. The only infotainment features are Bluetooth phone connectivity, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and one USB port; a second USB port and a smartphone charging pad are optional extras for people who want to charge two devices simultaneously.

Engine
There are no differences when comparing the 2024 BMW X3 hybrid to the 2024 model. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 181 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque is provided. Don’t worry if that seems a little underwhelming. An electric drive motor that generates 107 horsepower and 77 lb-ft of torque in addition to the combustion engine gives the vehicle a total output of 288 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. With xDrive all-wheel drive and a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, the heaviest X3 can reach a top speed of 132 mph and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 5.9 seconds.
The X3 gets decent gas mileage, but it’s not the best in its class. The X3 Hybrid model for 2024 has not yet had official ratings released, but we anticipate it will receive the same rating as the 2024 model. When using combustion and electric engines, the same car attained MPGe numbers of 60 MPGe and a combined 24 mpg with gas alone. According to BMW, the 13.2-gallon gas tank could last you for approximately 317 miles if careful with the throttle, while the all-electric range is expected to be 17 miles. The X3 Hybrid will fully charge its battery in around three hours using a level two charger.
2024 BMW X3 Hybrid Price and Release Date
Premium European machines are often expensive, so the X3 is not exactly on its way to earning the title of the best deal ever. Nevertheless, it’s not outrageously pricey, with a starting price of $49,600. There is a $995 destination fee, but the MSRP can be significantly reduced because this model is eligible for a $5,836 federal tax credit, making it less expensive than a standard X3 xDrive30i. Naturally, you could use all those savings to design a fully outfitted vehicle, and it’s not inconceivable to see the price rise above $65,000.
