2024 BMW X5 Redesign, Release Date, InteriorThe 2024 BMW X5 is a flexible mid-size luxury SUV that offers a well-appointed cabin and a delightful driving experience in one attractive package. Even the base models have a wealth of modern technology, convenience amenities, and a silky-smooth inline-six-cylinder engine.

The X5 can travel entirely on electric power for short distances if you upgrade to the plug-in hybrid model, while the optional twin-turbo V-8 engine delivers rapid acceleration. It may not be as luxurious on the inside as the Genesis GV80 or as athletic as the Porsche Cayenne. Still, compared to SUVs like the Audi Q7 and Mercedes-Benz GLE-class, the X5’s versatility shows through, earning it an Editors’ Choice title.

2024 BMW X5 Redesign

The special edition based on the BMW X5 xDrive40i is the major news in appearance. The new X5 with this particular option has red kidney grille bars that complement the blacked-out body and unique 22-inch grey wheels with red brake calipers. The new-generation BMW X5’s exterior design is more athletic yet sleeker than ever. Both the chrome and matte finishes of the jaw-dropping kidney grille are stunning. The narrower fog lamps are a little more upright with the revised bumper. The current single chrome-tip exhaust on the rear fascia may be replaced with dual chrome-tip exhausts. The 2024 X5 will also get a better chrome coating on the exterior. The M Sport package includes gloss paint, 20-inch bi-color alloy wheels, gloss roof rails, an aerodynamic kit, and other features. The 21-inch machine-painted aluminum wheels are also available.

With its general design philosophy, the X5 will maintain its class by keeping things simple. In comparison to its competitors, it is already quite large. The fourth-generation X5 features improved handling and balance thanks to a redesigned platform and a longer wheelbase. Its V6 isn’t hefty, but the X5 M’s V8 engine adds significantly to the weight. Its good ground clearance allows it to do some light off-roading. Regarding the BMW X5, the SUV’s dimensions are believed to be similar to those of the previous model. IN THIS CONFIGURATION, the X5 would measure 194.3 inches long, 78.9 inches wide, and 68.7 inches tall. The wheelbase will be roughly 117.1 inches, with 8.7-inch ground clearance. To put that in context, the Audi Q7 is 5-inches longer than the X5, but only about 1-inch wider, while having a similar wheelbase.

Interior

As usual, the interior of the X5 is exquisitely built. The build quality is excellent, and the design is contemporary and reminiscent of iconic BMW cabins from the past. Behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel is a 12.3-inch driver information display, while a central 12.3-inch touch panel handles the infotainment. Most versions come with soft-touch materials and SensaTec imitation leather, but the M50i receives genuine Vernasca leather instead. The Black Vermilion includes distinctive model-specific inside finishes in black and red and glass controls. Regardless of which model you prefer, there is enough room, and the seats are both soft and supportive, resulting in a rich and homey environment. Other features, like standard heated seats on all models, round out the X5’s impressive list of options.

The base X5 comes fitted with SensaTec imitation leather in black or Canberra Beige/Black. Upgrade to Vernasca leather (far superior to the base Sensatec synthetic leather) for $1,450 and choose from Ivory White, Canberra Beige, Coffee, Cognac, or Black. If that’s not enough, Merino leather is now available in the same colors as Cognac, adding Tartufo and Ivory White/Midnight Blue. These upgrades, multi-contour seats, four-zone climate control, and the Premium package cost an additional $2,450, bringing the total cost of this leather option to $4,850. With Aluminum Dark Mesh, Brown-Metallic Ash Grain wood, Anthracite-Brown Poplar Matte Finish wood, and Aluminum Tetragon choices, you have extra alternatives with trim accents at no cost. However, you’ll need to add multi-contour seats, four-zone temperature control, black extended Merino leather, the Premium package, and the M Sport aero kit to make the last choice genuinely accessible. These options can cost several thousand dollars. As a stand-alone alternative, glass controls are also available.

Engine

A 335-horsepower, turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and eight-speed automatic transmission are standard on the 2024 BMW X5. It comes with rear-wheel drive (sDrive40i) or all-wheel drive (xDrive40i) (xDrive40i). This 40i engine is eager, punchy, and confidently propels the X5 off the line and up to speed. It takes 5.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The transmission is just as well-polished and shifts gears smoothly and quickly. It has all the energy drivers require, but BMW didn’t stop there.

The inline-six engine in the X5 xDrive45e is a hybrid variant. It offers comparable acceleration, improved fuel efficiency, and an all-electric drive option. The 523-horsepower twin-turbo V8 in the X5 M50i propels this massive SUV into sports car territory. The engine generates a tremendous roar as it explores the top regions of its rpm range. The X5 can go from 0 – 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. Is it not enough? The more expensive X5 M has a 600-horsepower version of this V8 that can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.
