2024 BMW X6 Specs, Redesign, Price – The 2024 BMW X6 is a mid-cycle refresh of the 2019 model that debuted in the United States, and it has updates to its exterior, interior, powertrain, and safety features. Because of its coupe-like form, it has less rear headroom and a smaller trunk than the standard X5, but it makes up for this in terms of style. Compromised competitors include the Audi Q8, Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The X6 holds its own, but premium options like the Genesis GV80, which proves that chic and affordability aren’t mutually exclusive, cast doubt on its superiority. The refreshed 2024 X6 re-engages the market for coupe-like midsize crossover SUVs to attract new customers. If the package’s virtues are any indication, it will be well received.
The BMW X6 SUV has been completely redesigned for the 2024 model year. This includes the exterior, the engine, the exterior colors, and the inside. Each 2024 X6 comes standard with the M Sport package, which consists of the M-specific adaptive M suspension, a blacked-out center section of the front bumper, and aggressive air intakes. In addition to the broader kidney grille, new daytime running lights (DRLs) are designed like a pair of outward-pointing arrows; these serve as turn signals. The wheels and taillights are also brand new. There are additional color options, and the kidney grille may glow in the dark if you want it to.
For 2024, the 3.0-liter turbo-six in the xDrive40i is upgraded and gets a significant power boost, going from 335 to 375 horsepower, and the other engines gain 48V mild-hybrid assistance. BMW rebadges the M50i xDrive as the M60i xDrive, giving it standard rear-axle steering and a more powerful V8 engine with the same 523 horsepower.
The X6 features a revolutionary curved display layout inside, powered by iDrive 8, that combines the 12.3-inch digital tool cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen into a single, seamless piece of glass. To accommodate the new configuration, the dashboard has undergone extensive renovations, including the addition of stealthily concealed air vents. The Highway Assistant, a semi-autonomous driving feature, is a new add-on. The new BMW X6’s base trim, which now starts at $73,900, is roughly 5% more expensive than previously. This increase is, however, more than justified by the vehicle’s enhancements.
2024 BMW X6 Redesign
Only some people agree on how attractive BMW’s coupe-SUV interpretation, the X6, looks from the outside. Its high, slab-like rear end is particularly divisive. It’s an acquired taste, but the fastback profile, M Sport package’s partially blacked-out front bumper, and large air intakes make even the base six-cylinder cars look more dynamic this year. Both models ride on identical 20-inch M Star-spoke two-tone alloy wheels. Still, the M60i distinguishes itself with M Sport brakes with blue calipers, quad exhaust outlets, upgraded adaptive LED headlights with blue accents, and black M-badged kidney grilles. At the same time, the xDrive40i keeps its chromed vertical slats in the kidney grilles. Every X6 has a motorized panoramic sunroof and power-folding side mirrors.
With a length of 195 inches, a wheelbase of 117.1 inches, a width of 78.9 inches (measured without the mirrors), and a height of 66.9 inches, the BMW X6 has measurements that are standard for the class and are comparable to those of the GLE Coupe and Q8. The vehicle has an 8.5% ground clearance. The xDrive40i has a front/rear weight distribution of 50.6/49.4 percent and a curb weight of 5,002 pounds, while the M60i’s is 51.2/48.8 percent, weighing 5,300 pounds.
The 2024 BMW X6 xDrive40i has eight different exterior colors, but only Alpine White is standard equipment. Mineral White, Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Manhattan Green, Skyscraper Grey, Brooklyn Grey, and Aventurin Red are the $650 metallic colors. These hues are available for the M60i, and there are no additional fees because they are standard equipment on this model. It also receives five metallic colors not available in any other trim, including the no-cost Isle of Man Green, the $1,950 Dravit Grey, the $1,950 Tanzanite Blue II, the $3,600 matte-finish Frozen Pure Grey, and the $3,600 deep maroon Ametrin.
The 2024 BMW X6 cabin has the same modern aesthetic as other recent BMW vehicles. Two 12.3-inch digital screens dominate the dashboard; high-end materials and soft-touch surfaces are found throughout. The gauges may have a sleek design but could be more apparent. The optional head-up display is much easier to use. The remaining switchgear is also well organized. BMW’s gesture controls are standard, but they’re not necessary to use the car’s entertainment system features, like changing the music level by waving your hand in front of the screen. The front seats are electrically adjustable up to 16 different positions, and other standard features include programmable ambient lighting, heated front seats, and passive entry. The rear seats are big enough for two adults, but they lose around an inch in legroom and an inch in headroom compared to the boxier X5. Cargo space is also reduced in the X6 behind-the-back seats. We could only fit nine pieces of luggage in the rear, whereas the X5 managed eleven.
CarPlay and Android Auto are built into the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. You can use the standard buttons, voice instructions, the rotary controller on the center console, or even hand motions to operate it. The company’s iDrive interface offers beautiful visuals and lightning-fast response times, but the multiple tabs and submenus must be clarified. BMW also provides optional extras, including a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless charging, and upgraded USB ports. The X6 may be equipped with either a basic (on the M60i) or optionally installed premium (on the X6) Harman/Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins sound system.
A 375-horsepower turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt hybrid system comes standard on the X6 40i, as does an eight-speed automated transmission. The M60i shares the same information and all-wheel drive with the 640i, but its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 is much more potent. At our test track, it accelerated from 0 – 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, appreciation to its 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. The fact that the X6 M can reach 617 horsepower and is even faster is even more unbelievable. The base six-cylinder engine is plenty quick and smooth. Adaptive dampers and wheel diameters between 20 and 22 inches come standard on the X6 40i and M60i. The X6, powered by a V-8, performed exceptionally well in our tests, especially in the corners. The ride quality was never harsh, even though the suspension is firmer than we experienced in the six-cylinder X6. We also liked how heavy (or light) the steering was and how quiet the cabin was at highway speeds.
Compared to other vehicles in its class, the X6’s towing capacity stands out. The X6 can tow up to 7200 pounds with the help of the optional towing kit.
Since the X6’s powertrain has been revised, the EPA has not released any new fuel efficiency figures for the vehicle. When we have driven the updated X6 on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route as part of our comprehensive testing, we will post an update below with the results. 2024 BMW X6 Release Date and Price
The base model, the xDrive40i, can cost $73,900, while the top-of-the-line M60i will set you back $93,600. These are the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for the 2024 BMW X6, which don’t include the $995 destination charge that BMW, unlike most other automakers, has managed to keep to a minimum. With BMW X6 production beginning in April in South Carolina, expect a release in the second quarter of 2023. Since both vehicles are produced at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant, so their release dates will coincide.
