New 2024 BMW 2 Series Coupe Colors, AWD, Pricing – The BMW 2-series is a fun-to-drive entry-level luxury vehicle. The 230i and M240i are only available as coupes, but despite their massive power differences, they both have the option of rear- or all-wheel drive. The 230i uses the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four used in the Toyota Supra and many other BMW models. The turbocharged inline-six engine producing 382 horsepower found in the M240i is much more fun to drive. Unfortunately, a manual gearbox is not an option.
The essential thing about the 2-series hasn’t changed much from the previous generation: it’s a fun car to drive that won’t break the bank, especially in 230i form with its four cylinders. Nonetheless, the latest revamp of BMW’s smallest vehicle has resulted in a deceptively speedy ride, complete with strong brakes and a chassis that relishes the twisties. Although it’s larger overall, it no longer has as much room in the back as it formerly did. There is a two-series four-door with more room in the back, but we’re not fans of the Gran Coupe because it uses an entirely separate front-drive chassis. That model is analyzed independently.
New 2024 BMW 2 Series Coupe Redesign
Including the massive kidney-shaped grille, the 2024 BMW 2 Series coupe is anticipated to receive some modest cosmetic updates. Besides those changes, the new 2 Series Coupe will likely keep the same long hood and short deck proportions as the existing model. You can also count on the car’s pronounced wheel wells to remain the same since they contribute to the vehicle’s athletic vibe. The 2 Series Coupe’s exterior design is timeless in its attractiveness and sportiness, so there’s no need to change anything for the next generation. Compared to its competitors, the 2 Series Coupe is noticeably smaller. The Cadillac is the biggest, while the Mercedes comes in second. The Audi appears to be the most similar in length to the BMW, but its width is much more than that of the BMW. There isn’t much weight difference between the other vehicles, but the A3 is noticeably lighter.
Alpine White and Jet Black color choices are provided at no additional cost. There are just six metallic hues to choose from, and they’re all USD 550. Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red, Mineral White, Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, and Thundernight are some of the available options. As for the latter, it’s the magnificent purple we were raving about before, and we certainly won’t stop doing so now that we see it in action. Only Alpine White is offered at no extra cost for the M240i, while Jet Black is not available with the M Sport style option.
BMW’s interior design language isn’t revolutionary, but it’s elevated by high-quality construction and comfortable ergonomics. The new 2-series has the same design philosophy and interior layout as the rest of the BMW lineup. While an analog set of gauges is standard, a 12.3-inch digital display and a head-up display are options. Although the coupe is longer and wider overall, featuring a wheelbase that is 2.0 inches longer, the rear passengers have less headroom and legroom than the outgoing model. The front seats might need a little more back support.
The infotainment system in the 2-series may be operated through a standard 8.8-inch or an optional 10.3-inch touchscreen. The user interface may be navigated with various input methods, including the steering wheel controls, voice commands, and a rotary controller located in the center console and surrounded by convenient shortcut buttons. Fortunately, BMW also provides a physical volume knob. Each one comes standard with a 10-speaker sound system, wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot that requires a subscription. A 14-speaker, 464-watt Harman Kardon system is available for those who want a more robust audio experience.
BMW fans will recognize the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder in the 230i and the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six in the M240i as the two standard engine options. An eight-speed automatic gearbox from ZF is coupled to both engines and may be manually shifted. BMW used to only offer the dual-clutch transmission in their full-size M vehicles, but they’ve abandoned it in favor of this eight-speed since it’s so much better. When necessary, you can make this legendary transmission as subdued and silent as you like. The information also has a “Sprint Mode,” whereby holding the left paddle causes an instant to downshift. There are several different driving modes available to you. An automatic launch system is included as standard equipment. BMW doesn’t have a method specifically for cold weather, but Comfort coupled with winter tires should be adequate. The 240i’s all-wheel-drive system makes it easy to handle even slick roads.
The turbocharged four-cylinder engine has 255 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 294 lb-ft of torque at 1,550 rpm. That’s more than the 230i from the previous year. That’s a lot of low-end torque for a relatively small car. The M240i’s enhanced six-cylinder engine provides further performance. It can generate 382 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 369 lb-ft of torque at 1,800 rpm. It’s clear that BMW’s sub-M product already has more power than the full-fledged M2 from 2016, as this figure is higher than the original M2’s.
New 2024 BMW 2 Series Coupe Release Date and Price
The newly designed BMW 2 Series will return to the market in 2024 and debut in June. Pricing for the base 230i begins at $36,350. The M240i xDrive version of this BMW 2 Series costs $48,550 if you want to go for the extra six cylinders of power it provides. The $995 destination fee is not included in this pricing.
