New 2024 BMW M3 Competition AWD, Price, Release Date

New 2024 BMW M3 Competition AWD, Price, Release DateThe base price for the four available versions of the 2024 BMW M3 compact sedan is $70,100. The Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the Audi RS 5 Sportsback are its main rivals in this price range. The M3 comes in four different versions, each with its independent powertrain that may produce varied amounts of thrust. To make 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, the standard 3.0L Twin-Turbo Inline-6 engine must be paired with the 6-Speed Manual transmission. The Competition models have the same engine as the traditional models, but with 8-speed automatic transmission, they have 503 hp.

The big news for the 2024 BMW M3 is that the automatic M3 Competition will be the first M3 ever to include the xDrive all-wheel-drive technology. There are three different modes available: 4WD, 4WD Sport, which delivers more power to the rear wheels for that signature rear-biased handling balance, and 2WD, which sends all the power to the rear wheels for authentic burnouts. To add the AWD hardware, the front axle’s geometry, steering, and oiling system must all be changed.

New 2024 BMW M3 Competition Redesign

The BMW M3 from the 2024 model year looks identical to the 2022 version. Similar to the new BMW M4, the massive kidney grille remains the focal point of the front design. The more prominent grille improves ventilation and temperature control despite its unattractive appearance. Standard features include brake cooling vents and the option to upgrade to carbon-ceramic rotors and gold calipers.

One of the $550 metallic finishes is Black Sapphire, a favorite among sunbathers. Other metallic finishes include Portimao Blue, Toronto Red, the beautiful Isle of Man Green, Brooklyn Grey, and Skyscraper Grey, new for 2024. Only the controversial Sao Paulo Yellow and BMW’s classic Alpine White are included in the price of both the Competition and Standard models.

M vehicles may be better recognized for their spirited performance, but their materials and craftsmanship are on par with or even better than those found in BMW’s flagship 3-series. The inside of the M3 is primarily indistinguishable from that of a standard 3-series, excluding the usual “M” badging and certain other distinctive trim features. That’s right, the M3 is identical to its more pedestrian sibling in every respect, down to the design, interior space, and visibility. Because carbon fiber and microsuede are used more in the M3, it is more sporty.

A vast, curving digital instrument cluster greets the driver in the M3. The M View display activates when the vehicle is set to sportier driving modes via prominent red buttons on the thick steering wheel. When you switch to M View, the standard tachometer is replaced by a more legible digital version, and a shift indicator is added. Front seats that are both lights and heavily bolstered are available and come standard on the Competition. They offer great support without sacrificing comfort, though this may not be true for long drives.

The 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine from the 2021 BMW M3 is also used in the 2024 model. The standard M3 has a 6-speed manual transmission and RWD, and its engine produces 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The new M3 Competition model is available with xDrive trim and features 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, teamed with 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 M3 Competition xDrive will provide three different drive modes: the standard 4WD, 4WD Sport, which sends most of the torque to the rear wheels, and 2WD, which sends all of the torque to the back wheels.

BMW claims a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.0 seconds for the M3, 3.7 seconds for the Competition, and 3.4 seconds for the M3 Competition drive. The standard top speed for all variants is 155 mph, increasing to 180 mph when the M Driver’s Package is installed. The M3’s well-balanced chassis gives it handling comparable to that of a sports car. The adjustable suspension dampers keep the ride quality from being overly firm. The brakes that come with the car are fine, but if you want more stopping power, you can buy an aftermarket carbon-ceramic brake.
