The Mercedes-Benz AMG C 63, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the Audi RS 5 Sportsback are its main rivals in this price range. The M3 comes in four different versions, each with its independent powertrain that may produce varied amounts of thrust. To make 473 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, the standard 3.0L Twin-Turbo Inline-6 engine must be paired with the 6-Speed Manual transmission. The Competition models have the same engine as the traditional models, but with 8-speed automatic transmission, they have 503 hp.
The big news for the 2024 BMW M3 is that the automatic M3 Competition will be the first M3 ever to include the xDrive all-wheel-drive technology. Front seats that are both lights and heavily bolstered are available and come standard on the Competition. They offer great support without sacrificing comfort, though this may not be true for long drives.

The 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine from the 2021 BMW M3 is also used in the 2024 model. The standard M3 has a 6-speed manual transmission and RWD, and its engine produces 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The new M3 Competition model is available with xDrive trim and features 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque, teamed with 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2024 M3 Competition xDrive will provide three different drive modes: the standard 4WD, 4WD Sport, which sends most of the torque to the rear wheels, and 2WD, which sends all of the torque to the back wheels.
BMW claims a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.0 seconds for the M3, 3.7 seconds for the Competition, and 3.4 seconds for the M3 Competition drive. The standard top speed for all variants is 155 mph, increasing to 180 mph when the M Driver’s Package is installed. The M3’s well-balanced chassis gives it handling comparable to that of a sports car. The adjustable suspension dampers keep the ride quality from being overly firm. The brakes that come with the car are fine, but if you want more stopping power, you can buy an aftermarket carbon-ceramic brake.

The base BMW M3 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $69,900 before adding on the $995 destination charge and additional fees and taxes. The base price of the M3 Competition is $72,800, rising to $76,900 when the xDrive all-wheel drive system is specified. The base price of an RS5 Sportback is $75,400. The BMW M3 Competition model with all available physical upgrades will set you back roughly $110,000 in the United States. The BMW M3 is back for 2024 as a brand-new model that will hit the market in June of that year.
