New 2024 BMW X2 Changes, Colors, Cost – The BMW X2 is a chic crossover demonstrating that utility can be wrapped up in a beautiful design. The X2 portfolio offers enough variation to entice all buyers with an option between a sporty 228-horsepower base model and a fierce 301-horsepower performance variant known as the M35i. Although it is more sleek and agile than the BMW X1, and both configurations contribute to a pleasurable driving experience, it is still a crossover, not a hot hatch. After a few years on the market, the X2 is a gorgeous replacement for the less powerful X1. But because it emphasizes appearance more strongly, it is also up against tough competition from the Volvo XC40 and Range Rover Evoque.
In 2024, BMW will offer the GoldPlay aesthetic option on the X2’s sDrive28i and xDrive28i variants. With a more aggressive front-end look and gold exterior trim details, GoldPlay versions set themselves apart from regular X2s. The M Sport package with this special-edition grade has a sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height and a revised steering system, but the exterior styling is the main change. You can choose from San Remo Green, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Storm Bay, or Skyscraper Grey paint for the X2 Coldplay.

New 2024 BMW X2 Redesign
The coupe-inspired design of the X2 was somewhat altered last year with the installation of a new front bumper, but other than that, it still looks like the same alluring crossover. Slender, upturned LED headlights flank large kidney grilles, and slim LED lights also make up most of the backlighting. Although they are notably larger on the M35i, which gets a far sportier look, a pair of chrome exhaust tips protrude from either side of the rear diffuser. While the top-spec vehicles are enhanced with 19-inch M wheels, the base models are supported by 18-inch wheels. The M35i also comes equipped with M Sport gear and a distinctive body package as standard.
The Volvo XC40, which makes the German SUV look relatively diminutive, is the most famous competitor whose proportions are noticeably smaller than those of the 2022 BMW X2. The BMW is 71.8 inches wide and stretches 172.2 inches from nose to trunk. A height of 60.1 inches implies that it sits lower than competitors, further highlighting its athletic style. The lightest model in the lineup, the sDrive28i, weighs 3,519 pounds, while the heaviest, the M35i, has a curb weight of 3,741 pounds.

New 2024 BMW X2 interior
Interior
Even though the X2’s interior design isn’t as striking as its exterior, the cabin is well-made and neatly furnished. The driving posture is superb, and all the X2’s controls are within reach of the driver. Rear-seat headroom is restricted, but passenger space should be acceptable for most individuals. BMW offers genuine and faux leather in a variety of hues. The X2’s shapelier backside prevents it from being as practical as the X1’s squared-off design, although it is comparable to competitors with sloped roofs. With the bench folded, we could fit 15 carry-on bags and five behind the back seat; the X1 could only do seven and nineteen.
BMW’s user-friendly iDrive software works on an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes standard with navigation. If you don’t like touchscreens, BMW also includes a controller knob on the center console. A head-up display is included in the premium package. Android Auto is not available, but Apple CarPlay is a standard feature. Audiophiles can choose a high-end Harman/Kardon sound system for more money, but the traditional seven-speaker system is good enough for casual listeners.

New 2024 BMW X2 engine
Engine
The X2 and X1 have the same base powerplant. BMW calls this vehicle the sDrive28i. It has a front-wheel-drive system, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and a turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower. The xDrive28i will cost you an additional $2000 if you want an all-wheel drive. The standard engine is a charmer: it revs eagerly and is incredibly smooth and bold. The X2 xDrive28i managed a respectable 6.4-second sprint to 60 mph on our test track, just 0.1 seconds slower than the X1 xDrive28i and Volvo XC40 T5.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA250 is even faster, reaching the goal in 5.8 seconds. The M35i might be the answer if that’s still too slow for you. BMW has upgraded the engine in this powerful X2 to produce 302 horsepower. That results in a 4.6-second sprint to 60 mph. Particularly with the sports suspension, the X2 has a rough ride. During bumpy road sections, passengers will notice every flaw in their chairs. High levels of agility are the trade-off. The X2 is an excellent car to drive because it is reliable and fun to turn quickly.
New 2024 BMW X2 Release Date and Price
The entry-level model in the BMW X2 lineup, the sDrive28i, has an MSRP of $36,600, which is more expensive than the XC40’s starting price but far less expensive than the Evoque. Since the mid-level trim is essentially the same as the base model but includes an all-wheel-drive system, the price increase isn’t too significant. The price for the xDrive28i starts at $38,600. Even though the top-level BMW X2 costs $46,450 for the M35i, that is still about $8,000 less than the top Evoque. BMW’s $995 destination fee is not included in any of these costs.
