New 2024 BMW X2 xDrive Release Date, Colors, AWD – As a stylish crossover with many features, the BMW X2 proves that practicality can be presented in a way that appeals to consumers. Although this crossover is lighter and quicker than the BMW X1, it is still not a hot hatch. The X2 lineup is versatile enough to appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers, with a 228-horsepower base model and a 301-horsepower M35i performance variation. The driving experience is enjoyable in both trim levels. While the X2’s increased emphasis on style has made it a more appealing option than the X1 after two years on the market, it still faces tough competition from the Volvo XC40 and the Range Rover Evoque.
A Coldplay package is now standard on all 2024 BMW X2 sDrive28i and xDrive28i models. The M Sport package, standard on this particular edition model, comprises sport-tuned suspension with a lower ride height and an improved steering system. It is still the exterior that stands out the most. Standard X2s are recognized from GoldPlay X2s by their more aggressive front fascia and gold exterior trim. For the X2 Coldplay, you can choose San Remo Green, Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Storm Bay, or Skyscraper Grey.

For 2017, BMW updated the X2 with a new front bumper, but other than that, it’s the same fantastic crossover as before. Narrow, inverted LED headlights flank the large kidney grille. The majority of the lights towards the back are thin LED strips. The M35i and the M340i have chrome exhaust tips that protrude from the rear diffuser, although the M35i’s are noticeably larger to match the car’s sportier appearance. A larger 19-inches replace the standard 18-inches at the M trim level. As with the M60i, the M35i comes standard with an M Sport suspension and an aero package.
For example, the 2024 BMW X2 doesn’t hold up well next to the Volvo XC40. The BMW measures 172.2 inches in length and 71.8 inches in breadth. The 60.2-inch height is lower than those of competitors, further emphasizing the vehicle’s sleek appearance. The sDrive28i weighs 3,519 pounds, making it the lightest option, while the M35i tips the scales at 3,743 pounds.
BMW provides a choice of 12 exterior colors, some of which are exclusive to specific models. While only Alpine White is offered for the M35i, Alpine White and Jet Black are standard on the 28i. In the 28i lineup, you can get a metallic paint job for $550 in various classy hues like Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Mineral Grey, and the very new 2024 Brooklyn Grey. Inexpensive and effective, $550 will get you Phytonic Blue, Galvanic Gold, and Sunset Orange, all of which are recommended for those who prefer the edge of life. Storm Bay Metallic is priced at $1,200. Finally, the M Sport X Package is obligatory for the $550 Misano Blue Metallic paint. Phytonic Blue, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, and Brooklyn Grey have discontinued color options for the M35i. Despite this, Misano Blue is still well recognized as a distinct choice.

The X2 has a stylish exterior, but its interior design and build quality fall short. The driver’s seat of the X2 is strategically located to provide the best visibility and access to all controls. Rear-seat occupants will find legroom tight, but headroom should be acceptable for grown-ups. BMW offers numerous leather options, including genuine leather in various colors. The X2’s rounded back end makes it less practical than the X1’s squared-off back end, but it’s on par with vehicles with slanted roofs. Compared to the X1, the X1 only had room for seven bags in the trunk and nineteen with the bench folded.
The BMW iDrive 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated navigation is standard. BMWs also have a control knob on the center console for those who would instead not use the touchscreen. The Premium version comes at a higher price and includes a heads-up display. Android Auto is not pre-installed, but Apple CarPlay is. The standard seven-speaker system is excellent for casual listeners, but audiophiles can spring for the upgraded Harman/Kardon setup.

BMW’s entry-level sports sedan is the sDrive28i. The X2 shares the X1’s fundamental engine design. This vehicle can cover ground quickly. It is powered by a 228-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine and is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and front wheels. The stock motor pulls strongly, runs smoothly, and revs enthusiastically. On our test track, the X2 xDrive28i reached 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is commendable but still 0.1 seconds slower than the X1 xDrive28i and the Volvo XC40 T5. If you want all-wheel drive on the xDrive28i, you’ll have to pay an additional $2,000.
Compared to that, it takes the Mercedes-Benz GLA250 5.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. If that’s still not fast enough for you, the M35i could be a good option. BMW fine-tuned this high-performance X2 engine to generate 302 horsepower. A 0-60 time of 4.6 seconds is possible at that speed. Even with the standard suspension, the X2 has a harsh ride. Travelers in a vehicle will feel potholes and other road irregularities as they travel across rugged terrain. However, there is always a price to pay for exceptional ability. As a result of its agility and responsive steering, the X2 is a pleasure to drive.

The Manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) for the base model BMW X2, the sDrive28i, is $36,600. More than the base price of the Volvo XC40 but less than the Evoque. Because it transmits the same underpinnings as the entry-level trim but adds all-wheel drive, the cost of the mid-level trim is not noticeably more than that of the base model. Prices for the xDrive28i begin at $38,600. BMW X2 M35i models start at $46,450, which isn’t cheap, but it’s still around $8,000 more affordable than the priciest Evoque. BMW’s $995 destination charge is not included in these prices. In June 2023, BMW will release a new version of the X2.
