The X5’s first two rows can comfortably seat adults, while the third row is reserved for kids. Premium cloths are used throughout the cabin, and there are several places to charge electronic gadgets, among other luxuries available to passengers. There is a standard power-adjustable, memory-equipped driver’s seat. All trim levels come standard with features like a power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power rear liftgate, rain-sensing wipers, and programmable ambient lighting. As an additional bonus, you can get a pricey Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system with diamond-domed tweeters.
As far as performance goes, the Mercedes GLE is on par with the BMW X5, but its back seats are less convenient to pack away. Cargo capacity is excellent with the X5. While the rear seats were taken, we could hide 11 suitcases behind the middle row. After folding the back chairs, which can be done from either the side or the rear of the SUV, we found a space large enough to fit 26 suitcases. All three engines are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and they’ll provide enough pick-up for practically any situation.
BMW claims that the xDrive45e model’s standard 24.0 kWh battery pack allows for a range of up to 30 miles while traveling only on electric power. The X5 can reach up to 84 mph when powered solely by its batteries instead of the gas engine. The power pack can be recharged at home or public charging stations using 110- or 220-volt outlets.
