BMW Z4 Roadster 2024 Pricing, Review, Pictures – The BMW Z4 fulfills all your expectations, given the recognizable roundel on its nose. The Z4 admirably follows the BMW criteria as a luxury brand with a sports bent. Its interior is upscale enough to compete with rivals like the Audi TT Roadster and the retired Mercedes-Benz SLC, yet it drives well enough for a potential Porsche 718 Boxster buyer to give it a second thought. Although it has a range-topping 382-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo inline-six engine that can propel the M40i model from 0 to 60 mph in under four seconds, this does not make it a jack of all trades and master of none. The Z4’s steering feel is significantly inferior to its Boxster counterpart, and its somewhat divisive appearance is a drawback that is more prevalent in this market segment than most. Even while it hasn’t changed the market, the Z4 is still a speedy, energetic, and luxurious roadster that BMW fans will adore.
The BMW Z4 Roadster for 2024 is a carryover from the previous year, but some items have been removed. Oddly, ambient lighting is no longer an essential feature, and wireless charging is no longer an option. Also, the Driving Assistance package is no longer part of the Convenience or Premium packages. It can now be bought on its own.
BMW Z4 Roadster 2024 Redesign
The design of the most recent Z4 Roadster can be challenging to get used to, despite having a good road presence. The conventional kidney grille is vast and reminiscent of the classic BMW Z8. It is undoubtedly more appealing than the excessively extended grille found on the most recent 4 Series Coupe. With a small rump and well-integrated taillights, the Z4’s rear three-quarter vista may be its most appealing feature. The base model has 18-inch alloy wheels, satin aluminum exterior trim, LED daytime running lights, and LED headlights. Both models have a black soft-top roof, but the M40i has an additional aerodynamic kit, Shadowline exterior trim, and 18-inch M double-spoke wheels. Both versions have dual exhaust outlets, but the M40i also has the standard M Sport kit, which is more aggressively fashioned.
Only Alpine White is provided without additional cost when ordering the base Z4 out of seven colors. Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Mediterranean Blue, Misano Blue, and San Francisco Red are six metallics costing $550. Although we adore the Misano Blue, it costs $1,500 more if the M Sport option is included. Mineral White and Mediterranean Blue are no longer available for the Z4 M40i, but you can still get the great Frozen Grey II Metallic paint job, which will cost you an extra $3,600.
The Z4 boasts a very high-quality cabin, just like all current BMWs. In this class, it might even have the most excellent interior. It has high-end materials, superb panel fitting, and well-placed controls. When you’re enjoying the Z4’s dynamics, thanks to the spacious bolsters in its comfy seats, you can stay put. Even for people taller than six feet, there is more space inside than you may anticipate. Its textile roof is hermetically sealed and thickly insulated. The BMW’s interior is remarkably silent with the top up, with so little wind or road noise that it almost seems like a Grand Touring coupe. It unfolds in a matter of seconds with the push of a button. A wind blocker is required to minimize wind buffeting with the top down and at high speeds.
The Z4’s trunk only has ten cubic feet of space, but it can fit two people’s worth of stuff for a short weekend road trip. Also relatively ample is the inside storage. The Z4’s interior has various storage compartments, including one in the center console and one with a felt interior to the left of the steering wheel. Additionally, there are two large cupholders up front and a netted shelf behind the seats. Standard features include a vast 10.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and free Apple CarPlay integration; Android Auto functionality is not offered. The numerous recent version of BMW’s iDrive system has clear graphics and is simple to operate. A knob, buttons, and voice instructions on the Z4’s console can also be used to control the system intuitively. Even though SiriusXM satellite radio costs extra, the car comes with a USB port and Bluetooth for streaming music.
Both engine options can vigorously move the tiny drop-body, as we discovered in our 2023 BMW Z4 review, and each has a distinct personality. The base sDrive30i uses an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, launch control, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder machine that generates 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six with a powerful 382 horsepower and 368 lb-ft is used in the sDrive M40i. An M-sport differential is also included with this version.
The M40i has tremendous passing power and an even better sound. The base engine sounds more excellent than the four-cylinder engines in less expensive models of the Porsche Boxster and pulls forcefully from low down in the rpm range due to its high torque. It matches incredibly well with the eight-speed gearbox, which quickly and smoothly shifts through its ratios, making it one of the best in the business. The Z4 can also be enjoyed at slower speeds when in Comfort mode.
BMW Z4 Roadster 2024 Release Date and Price
For 2024, the US base model BMW Z4 has received a slight $200 price hike, while the six-cylinder model will continue to have the exact starting MSRP. Accordingly, the sDrive30i and M40i versions of the BMW Z4 will cost $49,900 and $63,700, respectively. These costs do not include the $995 destination fee or the numerous optional options that can raise the ultimate price of the BMW Z4 by hundreds of dollars.
