New BMW i7 2024 Feature, Specs, Price – Volkswagen of Bavaria This designation once denoted an internal combustion engine (ICE) behind the hood, but as the E.V. age approaches, it will indicate electric motors. The all-electric 2024 BMW i7 will be introduced alongside the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series in 2024, marking the most radical redesign of BMW’s flagship model to date. BMW anticipates that between 30 and 40 percent of 7 Series sales will be electric, so the i7 must live up to the 7’s high standards.
BMW’s release of the i7 couldn’t have come at a better moment, with Mercedes having a year’s head start with the EQS sedan, Tesla continuing to dominate the E.V. sector, and new entries like the Lucid Air prepared to take sales from early adopters.
We flew to Palm Springs, California, to try out BMW’s newest flagship in gas and electric form. Meanwhile, for customers who are still deciding whether to switch to electric vehicles, the traditional 7 Series remains in the range with either an inline-six or V8 engine. After spending time in each car, we can confidently say that the new 7 is BMW’s finest offering, although we do have a preference.
New BMW i7 2024 Redesign
The massive kidney grille is a trademark of contemporary BMW styling. And now, the 7’s design, which is quite royal. Its length of 212.2 inches gives it an imposing presence. Compared to the outgoing long-wheelbase 7 Series, BMW’s new model has a wheelbase that is 5.1 inches larger at 126.6 inches. The visual differences between the 7 Series and the i7 are minimal, in contrast to the S-Class and the EQS. BMW did the correct thing, as the i7 is more traditionally grand than the EQS.
The choice of color is crucial, as some schemes may draw too much attention to the massive grille. We were drawn to the Oxide Grey Metallic i7 without the M Sport package and the Frozen Deep Grey option, which gives the car a stealthy appearance, out of all the BMWs available for test drives. Mineral White Metallic draws too much attention to the M Sport Package’s black kidney grille, and the two-tone Adventurin Red Metallic and Black Sapphire Metallic on the 7 Series are a waste of $12,000.
The BMW i7’s proportions have grown noticeably since the previous 7 Series, a statement of intent to crush all competition. Having increased in length by 5.1 inches, width by 1.9 inches, and height by two inches, the i7 is now a legitimate full-size luxury sedan. Its dimensions are 212.2 inches in length, 76.8 inches in breadth, and 70.8 inches in height. Two-tenths of an inch longer than the previous generation 7, the new wheelbase measures 126.6 inches. There was no mention of a curb weight for any of the variants when they were introduced, but with the increase in size and the addition of a battery pack, the i7 will only be able to stay under 5,500 pounds.
The New BMW i7 2024 and the gasoline-powered 7-series were co-developed; therefore, the i7 shares that car’s roomy, opulent, and high-end interior. The i7 is competitive with vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Tesla Model S due to its high luxury and technological convenience features. Space is not an issue in the front and back seats, and the cabin is finished with high-quality materials. The Executive Lounge package includes power-adjustable reclining chairs, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and extra-cushioned headrests for the rear passengers. In addition to a large trunk, there is a convenient rear-seat pass-through for when you need to transport objects that are too long to fit in the box.
Large floating digital gauge and infotainment displays are carried over from the iX SUV and used in the i7. The two screens provide an unobstructed view of the vehicle’s navigation and multimedia systems, both located beneath a single sheet of glass. A big 31.3-inch drop-down screen is part of the optional rear-seat entertainment system, which uses the car’s 5G cellular connection to stream content from services like Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube.
Only the xDrive 60 version of the i7 will be available at launch. The combined output of the vehicle’s two electric motors is 536 horsepower and 549 pound-feet of torque, making it competitive with the 760i in both categories. However, the i7 is heavier, so it takes 4.5 seconds longer to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour. The i7’s peak speed is “only” 149 mph, which is disappointing compared to the 7 Series’ 155 mph top speed, especially if you call the German Autobahn home. The 760i may feel quicker off the mark, but the i7’s instantaneous responsiveness is due to the lack of a transmission. A top-of-the-line M70 model with over 600 horsepower, 737 pound-feet of torque, and a 0-60 time in under four seconds is on the way.
The i7’s battery pack is enormous, with a usable capacity of 101.7 kWh should provide ample driving distance. According to the company’s claims, the BMW i7 can be charged at a maximum of 195 kW using a flat charging curve, increasing its range by about 80 miles in just 10 minutes and taking about 35 minutes to travel from 10% to 80%. The automobile can drive up to 318 miles on a single charge, depending on the wheels you select (or 296 at the low end).
BMW claims the i7 will have a range of about 300 miles per charge, but the EPA still needs to provide an official number. To that end, every BMW i7 comes with three years’ worth of unlimited 30-minute charging sessions at Electrify America outlets. In just 10 minutes at a D.C. fast charging station, the car’s massive 101.7-kWh battery pack can provide an additional 80 miles of range.
We have yet to have the opportunity to put the i7 through its paces on our highway fuel efficiency test route at 75 mph; if we do, we will report back with our findings. According to the EPA, it is expected to achieve up to 87 MPGe in the city and 92 MPGe on the highway. Check out the EPA’s website to learn more about the i7’s gas mileage.

The New BMW i7 2024 and conventional 7 Series are both set for U.S. debuts in the fourth quarter of 2023. Compared to the 760i, the i7’s base price of $119,300 for the xDrive60 is high but perhaps not entirely justified. However, BMW will offer the i7 three years of unlimited charging sessions from Electrify America, which should more than make up for the initial purchase price difference of $5,700 in fuel savings. With the EPA estimating the 760i’s annual gas use at $3,300, an i7 driver might soon recoup the cost of the E.V. premium.
