The X3, now in its third year, is the pinnacle in its field, thanks to years of development and improvement. Millions of happy customers agree that the X3, which comes in various trims and may have all-wheel drive as an option, is the perfect blend of luxury, sportiness, and prestige. It could be parked in the lot of a country club or a Costco and not appear out of place.
Starting at an MSRP of $43,700, the 2024 BMW X3 is already on sale. The X3 M40i and X3 M provide superior performance because of their more potent engines and quicker acceleration. The same 248-horsepower turbo-4 engine is still in use. The exterior has been updated with new bumpers, lighting, and grille.

The 2024 BMW 3 Series and X3 are part of BMW’s core lineup, so you shouldn’t be too surprised by the cosmetic updates. The X3’s exterior has been modified for 2024 with a new grille, headlights, taillights, bumpers, wheels, and exhaust tips. There is now an M Sport option for the standard X3, making it seem like the sportier M40i. As the X3 is a stylish, performance-oriented SUV, that’s great with us. The new grille and LED headlights look great, and the unique lighting signature in the taillight clusters looks fantastic at night.
The car’s shape remains mostly unchanged, although it now rides on standard 19-inch wheels and may be upgraded to 21s. The redesigned 3D LED pincer claw taillights and more comprehensive trapezoidal exhaust chrome tips give the vehicle a more aggressive profile. In confined areas, the X3’s length makes it difficult to maneuver. The M Sport package costs $4,100 and includes 19-inch y-spoke bi-color wheels, aerodynamics upgrades, gloss black roof rails, and Shadowline exterior trim.
The X3 comes in two standard colors—Alpine White and Jet Black—that does not affect the starting price. Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Dark Graphite, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Skyscraper Grey, and Brooklyn Grey are metallic colors that may be yours for an extra $650. The caveat is that if you go for Carbon Black or Brooklyn Grey, you’ll also have to get the M Sport Package. The premium Tanzanite Blue II Metallic (as seen on our test vehicle) and Aventurin Red Metallic are the most expensive options at $1,500.
The M40i no longer features Jet Black as an option but retains the same color scheme as its more aggressive parent model. This new logo will replace the factory decals on the hood, trunk, and wheel hubs and features semicircles in the classic M hues of blue, dark blue, and red. The M40i can be outfitted with commemorative red brake calipers and a special badge marking the 50th anniversary of BMW’s M division.

Any contemporary BMW is the same inside, so if you’ve sat in one, you’ve sat in them all. The X3’s cabin is as high-end, rational, and sturdy as one would want from BMW, which is saying something because the automaker hasn’t produced a poorly designed interior in quite some time. This year, it has been updated with new vents and controls ripped straight from the 4 Series. Even though it has a traditional, business-like look, there is a lot of freedom in choosing colors and materials.
Even in its most basic configuration, the X3 is not lacking in amenities, and it is rare to find an X3 in a garage without a few add-ons. Power-adjustable front seats with a driver memory feature are included on all models, although heated seats are not. Among the many convenient features that come standard on this vehicle are push-button ignition, an integrated garage door opener, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and automatic dimming features for the interior and driver-side external mirrors. The safety package includes a rearview camera, parking sensors up front and back, blind spot monitoring, and forward collision alert. The M40i improves upon this with a digital instrument cluster, keyless entry with comfort access, and a motorized panoramic sunroof. Remote engine start, heated front, and rear seats, and ventilated front seats are all available as extras.

The 2024 BMW X3 will continue to utilize the same 2.0-liter turbo inline-four engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Whether you choose to power the rear wheels or all four with the available xDrive all-wheel drive system, the engine will work in tandem with the car’s automatic 8-speed transmission to distribute your thrust. It’s impressive for a crossover because it can pull up to 4,400 pounds with the towing kit. The X3 is a joy to drive and is guaranteed to put a grin on your face. With its athletic underpinnings and sharp cornering, the X3 is a joy to drive. The all-wheel drive technology helps keep it steady while navigating sharp corners at high velocity. The ride is comfortable and enjoyable over rough terrain, thanks to the basic suspension. The X3’s light and precise steering is another vital attribute.
According to BMW, the X3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 6 seconds. Its peak speed is 130 mph, completing the quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds. The gearbox keeps the gears in place effectively, allowing you to access maximum torque at all times. The X3’s stopping ability instills the same confidence level as its on-road prowess. It has an excellent stopping distance measurement of 112 feet.

Prices for the base sDrive30i model of the 2024 BMW X3 start at $43,700, with the top-of-the-line xDrive30i going for $45,700. The M40i, with its significantly increased power, can be had for $57,800. An additional $995 US destination fee is not included in this pricing. The BMW X3 M40i, with all the bells and whistles, will set you back over $70,000. Our X3 xDrive30i was one of the more basic models, and it came with only one interior package as an option. For $51,390, including the $1,500 exterior paint color, a couple of additional options, and the destination cost, our X3 tester was a steal of a deal among luxury SUVs.
