For short trips, the X5 can run on electric power alone with the plug-in hybrid variant, while the optional twin-turbo V-8 engine delivers impressive acceleration. The X5 xDrive40i’s special edition is the major news in BMW X5 aesthetics. The blacked-out exterior boasts unique 22-inch grey wheels with red brake calipers, while the red kidney grille bars match the blacked-out appearance. The new BMW X5’s external build is athletic while still being sleeker than before. Both the chrome and matte finishes complement the kidney grille’s jaw-dropping design. The thinner fog lights appear a little more upright with the revised bumper. Dual chrome exhaust tips may be added to the rear fascia, replacing the single current exhaust. The outside of the 2024 X5 will also have a better chrome finish. With the M Sport option, you’ll get gloss paint, 20-inch alloy wheels, gloss roof rails, and various aerodynamic accessories. The 21-inch machine-painted aluminum wheels are also available to you.
Alpine White and Jet Black are the only no-cost colors offered on the base model, but for an additional $550, you may choose from one of eight metallic colors. These include Arctic Grey Metallic (our test color), Carbon Black, Black Sapphire, Dark Graphite, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, and Manhattan Green, in addition to the new hue Sparkling Brown. Jet Black is not available on the M50i, but ordinary metallic selections are Carbon Black, as this model already comes standard with the M Sport package. Carbon Black needs the addition of the M Sport package, resulting in a total price increase of $5,250. Tanzanite Blue II and the new Dravit Grey (which replaces Ametrin from last year) are both available for $1,950 each.
The X5’s overall design philosophy will keep things basic to maintain its class. When compared to the competition, it’s already quite large. It’s easier to maneuver and more stable thanks to the redesigned platform and longer wheelbase of the fourth-generation X5. The V6 engine isn’t overly heavy, but the V8 engine in the X5 M adds significant weight. It has reasonable ground clearance for light off-roading. The proportions of the BMW X5 SUV are expected to be similar to those of the outgoing model, at least in the short term. Thus, the X5 would measure 194.3 inches long, 78.9 inches wide, and 68.7 inches high. The vehicle’s wheelbase measures 117.1 inches, while the ground clearance measures 8.7 inches. For example, the Audi Q7 is 5-inches longer but narrower than the BMW X5 with a similar wheelbase, putting this into context.

As usual, the X5’s cabin has exquisite craftsmanship. The materials used are of the highest quality, and the interior design pays homage to iconic BMW models from the past while being thoroughly modern. Driver information is displayed on a 12.3-inch screen mounted behind the leather-wrapped steering wheel, while entertainment functions are displayed on a 12.3-inch touch screen in the center. Most models come equipped with SensaTec imitation leather and soft-touch materials, but the M50i model features genuine Vernasca leather. Exclusive model-specific interior finishes in black and red for the Black Vermilion and glass controls are included. No matter which model you choose, you’ll have lots of legroom and supportive seats that make the experience both elegant and cozy. The X5’s outstanding feature set is rounded out by standard heated seats on all trims.
Black or Canberra Beige/Black SensaTec imitation leather is standard for entry-level X5. Vernasca leather can be upgraded for $1,450 to Ivory White, Canberra Beige, Coffee, Cognac, or Black, a significant improvement over the original Sensatec synthetic leather. Merino leather comes in the same colors as Cognac, although Tartufo and Ivory White/Midnight Blue are added. It costs $2,450 to add multi-contoured seats, four-zone climate control, and the Premium package to this leather upholstery choice; the exact cost is $4,850. At no additional cost is the opportunity to choose between dark aluminum mesh, brown-metallic ash grain wood, anthracite-brown poplar matte finish, and aluminum tetragon trim options. As a standalone option, glass controls are also available. If you want to go with the most expensive of the three options, though, you’ll have to pay extra for features like the Premium package and M Sport aero kit, as well as four-zone climate control and Black extended Merino leather. These extras can go into thousands of dollars.

The 600-horsepower V8 in the expensive X5 M can sprint to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds.
