Next-Gen 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe, Redesign, Price

Next-Gen 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe, Redesign, PriceSo here comes the BMW 4 Series Coupe for another bout of grilling. Seriously, we thought BMW would never hear the end of it when this car debuted with that outrageous front grille, but it appears that the dust has settled, and we can now focus on all the items that this coupe excels at. Except for a few feature shuffles, things remain unchanged for 2024; the powertrain lineup remains as strong as ever. The handy little 2.0-liter engine strikes a good blend of power and efficiency, but the 3.0-liter, 382-horsepower inline-6 in the M440i and M440i xDrive always catches our eye.

The BMW 4 Series is an excellent little premium automobile. It has a range of reliable engines, from a capable and fuel-efficient four-cylinder to high-powered turbocharged straight-sixes. The handling is well-tuned, whether you enjoy a lengthy cruise or put your skills to the test at a racetrack. The BMW 4 is available in various body types, including a coupe, a convertible, and a new-for-2024 four-door Gran Coupe with more cargo room than almost anything else in the class. All versions of the 4 Series come standard with an infotainment system that is easy to use, a well-made cabin, and comfortable front seats.

That massive, gaping grille will always be the most talked-about feature of the Next-Gen 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe. We’ve come to accept it, and some even like it, but, like any automotive design, it’s a matter of personal preference. The remainder of the 4 Series Coupe is sultry, with a sleek side profile and an athletic tail end that we adore. The 430i comes standard with 18-inch V-spoke Bi-color orbit grey alloys. Shadowline exterior trim, a power glass sunroof, and power-folding, heated side mirrors are all standard on the 430i. On M440i vehicles, 18-inch M-Double-spoke bi-color wheels with performance run-flat tires, a rear spoiler, and an aerodynamic body kit are included.

The base model is available in Alpine White and Jet Black for free, but it can also be painted in one of eleven metallic hues. Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Sunset Orange, Bluestone, Portimao Blue, San Remo Green, Arctic Race Blue, and Brooklyn Gray are just a few colors available. The price of each of these metallics is $500. Dravit Grey, Tanzanite Blue II, and Aventurin Red are three $1,500 metallic paint options. We’d choose one in Portimao Blue if we were the ones making the purchase.

In its class, this luxury coupe is relatively large. Its total length of 187.9 inches puts it 3.5 inches longer than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe and nearly three inches longer than the Audi A5 Coupe. Including the mirrors, the width measures 81.9 inches; when folded, it reduces to 72.9 inches; and the height measures 54.6 inches (54.8 inches for xDrive models). The wheelbase of the 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe is one of the longest in its class at 112.2 inches. All these measurements also apply to the M440i, except its slightly longer length (188 inches). The base BMW 430i weighs 3,578 pounds, while the M440i xDrive tips the scales at 3,977.

Interior

Unless they’re in the back seat, shoppers may not notice much of a difference between the cabins of the 4-series and the 3-series. The dashboard layout, interior materials, and significant controls appear identical to those found in the four-door 3-series, while the 4-series’ lower roofline gives it a smaller feel. The trunk capacity is less extensive than in the 3-series, particularly in the convertible form; in our tests, we were able to place five carry-on bags in the coupe model’s trunk, one less than in the 3-series sedan.

The 2024 4-series sedan features the same 8.8-inch standard and 10.3-inch optional infotainment screens as the 3-series sedan. Both displays run BMW’s iDrive seven infotainment software, which combines an intuitive interface with a console-mounted click wheel controller for simple usage while driving; those who want to interact directly with the display may do so because both are touchscreens. CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-dash navigation will be standard. A 12.3-inch digital meter display, onboard Wi-Fi, and a wireless smartphone charging pad will be available as options.

Engine

There isn’t a terrible option among the four-engine options available for the 2024 BMW 4 Series. The base 430i model’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine more than delivers, confidently propelling this BMW forward, while the automatic transmission makes well-timed shifts. The turbocharged six-cylinder engines in cars marked with an M are significantly more powerful. The M440i accelerates much faster than the base model, and we think it’s the best compromise between performance and price.

According to the EPA, the four-cylinder 430i coupe is expected to get 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. When all-wheel drive is included, the values drop to 24 and 33 mpg, respectively. The M440i’s six-cylinder engine gets 22 mpg in the city and 31 on the interstate. The M440i hasn’t been tested on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, but the 430i xDrive managed 34 mpg over a 200-mile journey. Visit the EPA’s website for additional information on the 4-series’ fuel economy.

Next-Gen 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe Release Date

A new BMW coupe with two doors was never going to be inexpensive. The MSRP of the 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe in 430i form is $45,800 before tax, registration, and a $995 destination charge. The price will rise to $47,800 if the xDrive AWD system is included. The M variants, which are more powerful, attract a higher price. The M440i Coupe costs $56,700, while the xDrive version costs $58,700. In the United States, the M440i xDrive will set you back a little more than $68,500 when fully outfitted. The new 4 Series Coupe order books open this month, but the official release date is not until 2024. BMW announced that deliveries would begin in November at a covert event in New York last week. You might get one in time for Christmas if you’re lucky, but most buyers won’t get their automobiles until early 2024.

Is The 2024 BMW 4 Series Coupe A Good Car?

By 2024, the BMW 4 Series will have finished burying the hatchback and can focus on being a grand sports tourer. The 4 Series isn’t designed to be a cutting-edge tool for the driver but rather a haven of luxury and relaxation. While the chassis and suspension have been calibrated to provide a pleasant commute, drivers can still have fun with the sporty M440i. The 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter engines are equally impressive and offer more than enough power for their designated roles. Comfortable materials can be found throughout the cabin; however, the rear seats may be a bit cramped for some. Don’t expect the 4 Series to be a bone-crushing off-road murder machine, and you won’t be disappointed. Nonetheless, BMW did a great job with interior design. While the Audi A5 Coupe and the Mercedes C-Class Coupe both have more classic good looks, and while the Mercedes C-Class Coupe has a more attractive cabin, the BMW is nonetheless a competent performer in its intended field.
