The New BMW Z4 Roadster 2024 Changes, Interior, Release Date – The BMW Z4 lives up to the brand’s reputation, represented by the iconic roundel on its nose. The Z4 does an excellent job of living up to BMW’s reputation as a luxury brand with a sporting spirit. It has a luxurious interior on par with the Audi TT Roadster and the now-defunct Mercedes-Benz SLC, and it’s athletic enough to pique the interest of someone shopping for a Porsche 718 Boxster. The range-topping M40i model is propelled to 60 mph in under four seconds by a remarkable 382-horsepower 3.0-liter turbo inline-six, so it’s not a Jack of All Trades and Master of None. The Z4’s steering feel is also much inferior to the Boxster’s, which is especially problematic in this market segment. Even though it hasn’t reinvented the category, the Z4 is a fun and stylish Roadster that BMW fans will adore.
The 2024 BMW Z4 Roadster is mostly a carryover model from last year but has lost a few features. The Driving Assistance package can now be bought independently, apart from the Convenience and Premium packages. Strangely, ambient lighting and wireless charging are no longer offered as extras.
The New BMW Z4 Roadster 2024 Redesign
The new Z4 Roadster stands out on the road, but its unusual silhouette may take some time. The classic kidney grille features an extensive design reminiscent of the classic BMW Z8. Indeed, it is more appealing than the excessively stretched grille of the newest 4 Series Coupe. The Z4’s short rump and tastefully integrated taillights make it stand out in the three-quarter rear view. The standard model has satin aluminum exterior trim, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights, and it rides on 18-inch alloy wheels. The soft black top is standard on both models, but the M40i differentiates itself with an aerodynamic kit, unique paint, and 18-inch M double-spoke wheels. The M40i and the M4 offer dual exhaust pipes, but the M40i are standard M Sport components and feature a more angular design.
There are seven available paint jobs for the standard Z4, but only Alpine White comes standard at no extra cost. Black Sapphire, Glacier Silver, Mineral White, Mediterranean Blue, Misano Blue, and San Francisco Red are just some of the six metallics available for $550 a pop. We like the Misano Blue, but to get it, you have to pay an extra $1,500 for the M Sport package. Mineral White and Mediterranean Blue are no longer offered on the Z4 M40i, but the fantastic Frozen Grey II Metallic is now an option—for $3,600.
The interior of the Z4 is, like that of every modern BMW, of exceptional quality. The cabin is among the best you’ll find in its price range. It’s crafted with high-end materials, has perfect panel alignment, and conveniently located buttons. Enjoy the Z4’s dynamic performance in comfort thanks to the spacious bolsters on the seats. It has more interior space than you’d think, even for people over six feet tall. Its cloth roof is thick and insulating, and it fits snugly. Even with the top-up, the BMW’s cabin is peaceful, with almost no discernible wind or road noise. With the top down, at high speeds, wind buffeting is kept to a minimum thanks to the standard wind blocker. Easily stored away, it only takes a few seconds to fold up after being put away.
The trunk of the Z4 isn’t huge, but it’s big enough to fit the necessities for a weekend road trip for two people. Interior storage is also plentiful. The center console and the cubby to the left of the steering wheel are lined with soft felt, and additional storage bins are dotted about the Z4’s cabin. There are also two large cupholders in the front and a netted shelf behind the seats. Navigation and free Apple CarPlay integration with the massive 10.3-inch touchscreen come standard, but Android Auto is not an option. BMW’s newest iDrive system is user-friendly and features crisp visuals. You can use your voice to command the system or use the Z4’s intuitive knob and buttons to operate it. Bluetooth and a USB port for charging gadgets are included, but SiriusXM Satellite Radio will cost you extra.
In our 2024 BMW Z4 review, we found that both engine options can propel the small convertible’s body with enthusiasm, and each has its distinct personality. The Z4 and the sDrive30i use an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and launch control in addition to the sDrive30i’s standard 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which generates 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The sDrive M40i is powered by BMW’s larger 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, which produces 382 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. There’s also an M Sport differential standard on this model.
The M40i has improved sound quality and remarkable passing power. The standard engine has a ton of torque, making it strong from low in the rev range, and it also has a more pleasant exhaust note than the four-cylinder engines found in cheaper Porsche Boxster models. It works wonderfully with the eight-speed gearbox, which is widely regarded as the best transmission of its kind due to its quick and seamless transitions between gear ratios. The Z4 can also be enjoyed at slower speeds in Comfort Mode.

Therefore, the base sDrive30i model of the BMW Z4 will set you back $49,000, and the top-of-the-line M40i model will set you back $63,700. The final cost of a BMW Z4 can increase by thousands of dollars for additional options and the mandatory $995 destination charge.
